About the Museum Sculpture Park in Wesenberg

This museum arises from a collaboration agreement between Cristobal Gabarron Museum and Skulpture Park Wesenberg in Germany, the latter run under the Peter Wilmot Thompson Foundation, with inception in 2014 in Berlin (Germany), which functions as an exhibition venue for a lineup of more than 30 international artists. These include names such as: Cornelia Nagel, Dr. Mig Dann, Johann Carrera, Fré Ilgen, Nunan Cartwright, Michael Cartwright, Jacob Cartwright, Solial Cartwright, Chen Xin, Zhao Hai Tian, Gevorg Tadevosyan, Wulfried Hengstenberg.

This agreement, signed in 2023, establishes the extension of the Cristobal Gabarron Museum in Mula that adheres as an enclave for the development of Artistic Residencies of the Cristobal Gabarron Museum in the Skulpture Park Wesenberg as a continuation of the installation of Cristobal Gabarron Museum's 'Pilgrim Museum' project in Germany.

Pilgrim Museum at the Skulpture Park Wesenberg

Among the exhibition circuit that houses the space is the 'Pilgrim Museum', an exhibition that includes 23 large-scale sculptures installed outside, in the natural forests surrounding the park, as well as several sculptures and paintings installed in one of the interior pavilions of its museum facilities.

The sculptural pieces belong to two collections, Siega Verde and Tao. The 13 large-format works that make up the Siega Verde series are inspired by the Salamanca archaeological site of the same name, one of the most important Paleolithic archaeological sites in Europe, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In the interior exhibition space of the German museum center Gabarron also presents his collection Asymmetries: nine oil paintings with pigment on canvas and two mixed techniques, one on backlight and the other on mirrored dibon, which reflect on the passage of time and silence from a human perspective in the natural environment.

Location

Gabarron Museum Sculpture Park in Wesenberg is located 100 km north of Berlin, Germany. Situated in the natural landscape of Weissen See, it has a lake surrounded by fields and forest. This art center brings together works from diverse cultures united by a wooded terrain on the outskirts of Wesenberg, bringing together Asian, European, and Australian art.

Artistic Residencies at the Gabarron Museum Sculpture Park in Wesenberg

To encourage cultural production, the Gabarron Museum in Wesenberg launches a call for residencies with the objective of promoting and inviting artists, curators and cultural creators to submit proposals for temporary exhibitions that enrich the connection and establish the creation as a cultural center of reference in other places.

The objective is to select innovative and high quality projects that promote artistic and cultural diversity, offering our visitors enriching and meaningful experiences. The temporary exhibitions programmed through this call should contribute to knowledge, appreciation and dialogue around art and culture, encouraging community participation and enriching our museum offerings.

The residencies at the Gabarron Museum Sculpture Park in Wesenberg are based on the creation of a space for research and creation of artistic and cultural projects closely linked to the environment just 100 km from the great artistic hub of Berlin.

Through an annual call and agreements with different institutions, different creators, researchers and related artists will be part of the selected ones.

Up to 6 artists, curators and / or researchers in any area of the national panorama will have the opportunity to carry out their artistic project for a period of approximately 2 months in the facilities of the Gabarron Museum Sculpture Park in Wesenberg, Germany. These facilities will provide the necessary space for the research, creation and development of the projects, as well as access to specific resources and materials according to the needs of each participant.

During their stay, residents will be part of a collaborative artistic community, fostering the exchange of ideas, experimentation and critical reflection. This project aims to promote the continuity of artistic work. That is why, at the end of their residency, they will have the opportunity to show the results of their work through an exhibition in the museum facilities of the sculpture park itself.
